I joined Genesis before the construction started. I admit I was getting upset with the lack of production and some of the changes. My friends in Wichita kept telling me that it will be worth it in the end and that they have gone through the same changes.

Let me tell you. This place is looking AMAZING!!! I have been to clubs in big cities and some of those clubs don't compare to what we have now in Emporia. Genesis will be the new place to be. Some of my friends have been trying to get me to go workout with them at Emporia Fitness. NO WAY JOSE!!!! This is too good to give up. My best friend, she just quit there and is now my workout buddy! She loves Genesis!! Everyone else should be a part of this experience.

I recently signed up with Genesis and I have nothing but good things to say about the club. When I signed up I received two free training sessions with a personal trainer which I am grateful for! The trainer sat down and talked to me about my fitness goals. He was able to talk me through workouts to target certain areas I have been having trouble on. I thought that I had a good knowledge of fitness, but he showed me a whole new side of things. The staff, there has been nothing but helpful. As I read some of the other reviews I was surprised to say the least. They have taken time to get to know me and call me by name as I enter. ( It kinda makes me feel like a celebrity some days!) Not only does the staff make me feel like a celebrity, but the renovations they have done to the place are top notch! I got to peek into the new locker rooms and OH BABY, they are a eye catcher (marble tile on the walls, steam rooms, the works!) Just last week, they brought in new equipment. I thought that the old equipment was nice, but this new stuff runs soo smooth! I strongly suggest anyone to stop in and see what they have done with the place, within this past week they are made soo much progress and things are starting to fall together. It is looking AMAZING!!

I have been a member of walburns and genesis. Love the new cardio equipment they brought in. It's clean and always working. I am also excited for the new lockerrooms. The steam room is what I am looking forward to most. I know it has taken longer than they expected but doing a remodel project like this doesn't take weeks. I saw the Salina Genesis and WOW!!!! I want to thank Brian and Genesis for all they have done and for what they are building for Emporia. It's going to look great when it's all done.

I liked this place when it was Walburns and had no problem with it but everything changed when brain sold it. I stopped going for a month and I wanted to go back well they put me on new price which was geneies 47$ a month instead of 25$ a month. I asked him why? its the same place and all you done is put a 20$ banner outside with name change.

He went on saying how they are going to remodel and showed me pictures of future gym so I am like fine sign me up. I went for good 6 months then i rarely went but the remodel of this place did not start year later after my contract was signed.

When my contract was about to expire, I went in to cancel and man they weren't happy (college kids running the front desk)

Because it was 5PM GYM was full and all their front parking was full so I parked in back (countrymart) and there was door open with stone holding it where other people were going into gym so I went in too.. I went in and went straight to front desk asking to cancel. First thing he asked was "where did you come from?" i said back door he is like thats for ballers like me only.. so in my mind i am like ok..

After canceling my contract i forgot to tell brain about "baller" entrance only so I called back and off course co-workers are going to support co-workers so they are like he didnt say baller he said staff..

I exactly did not know what he meant by "thats for ballers only like me" at that time but he meant to say "thats for staff only" the back door was open with stone holding it.. there was no sign that said "staff only" and all others were going in and out too. not my problem you dont have enough parking.

I called before all this to ask them what the procedure was to cancel contract, they told me to come in so they knew i was coming to cancel and they all were being bitchy to me as soon as I entered beside brain.

If i want to go gym now I would happily drive across town to Emporia Fitness or use ESU's because of this incident. All i wanted to do was cancel my contract because I was going in and out of town and I told them i would come back when i am free but they lost loyal customer for good because of their "baller entrance only" located behind the building.

To Genesis,

I emailed you, I sent you message on facebook you know who I am so thanks for replying back and caring about your customers.

Recently, I was diagnosed with a serious medical condition which makes it impossible for me to work out. I had hoped to end my member ship to Genesis Health Club as a result of now facing large medical bills, huge cuts in pay from months not being able to work, and (most importantly) not being able to work out .

I have called Genesis repeatedly and spoken with the manager personally. I proved them a copy of my doctor’s note and Genesis has verified my absence from my job with my employers. All of this, however, was not enough to convince Genesis of my truthfulness. Even putting your membership on hold still requires you to pay your full monthly membership fees.

Their contract is unbreakable and now I find myself locked into a ridiculous contract which requires me to pay for services that I am MEDICALLY UNABLE TO RECEIVE. I had expected a higher level of courtesy, thoughtfulness, and morality from a company which depends so heavily on its community support. Do not sign a contract with Genesis. They care more about making money than they do the health and safety of their members.
